Flat Roofs

About Torch on flat roofs Similar to tar and gravel roofing, the torch down roof consists of layers of fibreglass and polyester with bitumen that are added to the regular tar and gravel layering system. These extra sheets are torched down in the overlap areas during the installation process, using large flame throwing torches that melt the asphalt at the seams to join them together, which is the origin of the name “torch on roofing”. The final result is the vulcanization of a large rubber sheet onto a fiberglass base. Also called modified bitumen, due to the mixing of asphalt with rubber compounds, torch down roofing provides additional strength and resistance to a flat or low sloped roof. It is not, however, suited to areas prone to high rainfall or snowfall, and has an average life expectancy of about 15 years. A torch down roof is also significantly more attractive than a standard tar and gravel roof.

Extensions

Extending on two or three levels can allow you to rethink possibilities for the interior that may not be readily apparent and may not significantly add to the overall cost. Clients are often surprised at the range of modernisation ideas we introduce that improve the functioning of a home. Our family friendly designs showcase tailor made solutions and rooms that meet individual families’ requirements.

Valleys

Roof lines create dramatic effects and add to the overall style and feel of a home. When it comes time to put shingles on a valley roof, Cass Roofing put special care and attention in to keeping the valley free from leaks. Remember, more water travels through the valley on a roof than any other part of the roof.
